The U.S.-flagged multipurpose cargo vessel SLNC YORK began taking on water in the Pacific Ocean on August 18, 2026, while sailing from Honolulu, Hawaii, to Naha, Japan. The crew and technical teams took immediate action to control the flooding, and the vessel was subsequently reported to be stable.
As a precaution, all crew members were safely transferred to the nearby vessel PACIFIC YANTAI, which responded to assist. No injuries were reported, and everyone was fully accounted for.
The source of the water ingress remains under investigation.
